Catcher In the Rye

In the book Catcher in the Rye Holden’s life is very different from our sweet life we have in Marin. First of all Holden got kicked out of his school Pencey you can tell that Holden’s family is not wealthy but he is because of his family. He takes money from them and saves it. As a kid who lives in Marin I feel as if we don’t have that need to take as much as Holden because of the lack of money we are given in our economy bubble we live in. I also feel like Holden’s life is not a lie and he is living in the real hard world and we get it easier living in Marin. Our lives relate because of the smoking, drugs , and alcohol that is much incorporated in your society. Holden really doesn’t have his parents constantly breathing down his neck and checking in, but I do and many teens who are 16-17 and live in Marin do to.

Catcher and the Rye First Impression of Holden

imageHolden the main character in the book “Catcher and the Rye” is a 17 year old boy who lives in New York and his family is not rich but he is because he takes his parents money. Holden is the captain of the fencing team and had a best friend named Ackley but he doesn’t do good in any of his classes expect for English. He has a bad mouth and swears every sentence, but teachers see potenial in him but doesn’t apply it when he is in school. He also smokes and doesn’t make good decisions.  I feel like Holden has a secret love for this girl named Jane.

Today in English class we listened to “This American Life” audio tape. Called “Carpool” It was about popularity and embarrassing yourself. This storyline related to me… when I was about 7 years old I was in the car with my mom heading to dance class she pulled over to pop into CVS drug store. I had left the house really needing to go to the bathroom. While she was in CVS ok about 30 mins and I was locked in the car with the child lock on so if I got out of the car then the alarm would sound.  10 mins into waiting for my mom, I REALLY  needed to pee… I couldn’t wait much longer! It was unbarable. It came out! I couldn’t hold it. Soon after I relized my mom was heading over! So embarrassing we both didn’t know what to do. so I went home and ended up not dancing that day. Image

Google Glass and Dance

Google Glass is a new strong and light weight way to stream videos, take pictures and record videos handsfree. With its glasses design it’s completely voice activated and it has a modern design.

It was interesting to me that in the Google Glass commercial they had a first person view of a dancer and his partner… but in reality I don’t think they would stay on for dancing any genre of dance.    Image

Roco Summer Camp

This summer my plans are staying the same. Starting June 17th I will be attending my dance companies summer program. I love this camp and keep going back to it because over the corse of the camp you aren’t just learning one type of dance, but many! There is jazz, ballet, modern, and contemporary, as well as Brazilian.
